Columbia, South Carolina (Noticias Nuestro Estado) – The SC Commission for Minority Affairs will host the second Latinx Student Summit on March 16th at 6 PM. This time, the Summit will be hosted at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. The first one was held at USC Upstate last October.
The Summit will be held at the University’s Russell House Ballroom, located at 1400 Greene St., Unit 218. This event is free and open to the public, however in-person attendance is limited. The Summit will also be broadcast live on the Commission’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person.

The Keynote speaker is Dr. Silvino Escareno, CEO and Founder of ITCED51. The Latinx Student Summit Scholarship, LA BECA, will also be featured.

The Summit is an initiative of the Commission’s with the goal of creating a network of Latinx students and professionals. It also seeks to cultivate a sense of pride and belonging amongst Latinx youth in South Carolina.
In particular, this Summit is dedicated to celebrating the importance of education and the Latin American Student Organization (LASO). It will be hosted at USC in honor of the more than 25 years of its Latin American Student Organization.
